experimental psychology p.115
案例10. An interesting controversy in clinical psychology is whether psychosis is inherited or is caused by environmental experiences. One environmentalist hypothesized that children who live with psychotic parents would be prone to having the same problem themselves later in life. To test this hypothesis, he took 1,000 psychotic adults and 1,000 normal adults and for each subject looked to see if either or both parents had been psychotic. Less than 1 percent of the normal adults had had psychotic parent, but over 30 percent of the psychotic adults' parents were psychotic. Based on this result, the experimenter concluded that psychosis in not inherited but that childhood experiences with a psychotic parent make a person especially prone to the disorder.
